Research Interests:

Biology, Teaching

As a teacher, the RET (Research Experience for Teachers) provided an opportunity to be involved with research with a team of biologists; then transfer that experience to my classroom to share with students.

In 2009, I worked on a project with the pollen of the plants that flower at the same time and locations as Echinacea angustifolia.  pollen.wikispaces.com

In 2010, I tested several asteraceae species for self-incompatibility of pollen.

This summer, I have collected insects at ten remnant sites first early in flowering of E. ang. then at the end of flowering.  I plan to examine the diversity of insects while comparing the sites and the times.
