Echinacea Project 2012

B. A., Biology, Middlebury College, 2010-

Research Interests

This summer I am interested in looking deeper into the possibilities for and implications of hybridization between E. angustifolia and E. pallida. I plan to investigate mean compatibility between species versus mean compatibility within species to gain a better understanding of the impact of introduced E. pallida on a native population. I would also like to analyze the morphology of both species and their hybrids to determine possible patterns of  trait heritability.

Statement

Beyond my work with the Echinacea Project I am interested in human interactions with the natural environment, particularly in relation to food and agriculture.
